Ask a Librarian

The Rakow Research Library at The Corning Museum of Glass is the international library of record for the art, history and early technology of glass and glass-making. We are happy to respond to all reference questions that relate to these areas. We are also able to respond to your queries regarding contemporary studio glass techniques and general glass technology. Questions regarding modern glass engineering and production are beyond the scope of our library.

The Library staff is unable to provide identification for glass objects. Contact the secretary of the Curatorial Department. at 607.974.8451 to schedule a time to bring in your item. If visiting the museum is not an option, digital photographs along with any written information you may have should be sent to curatorial@cmog.org. The Corning Museum of Glass does not provide appraisals, as a matter of policy.
