Jug with Woven Cover. (Jug) Yellowish green, transparent glass; (cover) straw-colored to dark brown; (bottle) blown, applied ; (cover) woven, twined, and tied. Bottle: square, with one handle. Rim outsplayed and flattened to form horizontal flange, with uneven horizontal trail applied to underside; neck cylindrical, wider at bottom than at top; sloping shoulder, with rounded edge; wall vertical; base obscured by cover. Strap handle dropped onto shoulder near edge, drawn up and in, and attached to underside of rim. Cover also has one handle. It consists of leaves or strips of leaves (W. about 0.7 cm) woven around bottle in continuous spiral with herringbone pattern that begins at center of base and continues at least to mid-point of neck. Handle has two spirally twisted strands of three-ply twine; its lower end is tied to cover at shoulder.
