F. & C. Osler opened a showroom in Calcutta (Kolkata) to serve its Indian customers. This type of chandelier was illustrated in its Indian sales catalog of about 1878. The chandelier was available in three sizes (six, eight, and 12 arms) and three colors (green, ruby, and blue). This green chandelier was originally purchased by the Nizam (ruler) of Hyderabad in southern India.

Description

Primary Description: 
Transparent deep emerald green, green and yellow-green glass; brass; blown, cut, pressed, gilded. Eight curving arms with large tulip-shaped shades with gilded decoration of leaves and band at rim. Long shaft with six prisms (each with three jewels) suspended from brass arms near top prism and jewels at top transparent green, prisms on bobeches transparent green some points transparent green, some transparent yellow-green small balls on Bg transparent green.
