Translucent deep blue glass (in transmitted light; in reflected light black glass); surface dull through weathering, partial decolorization, partly heavy pitting, whitish scum and iridescence; possibly free blown, with applied thread decoration; thick sloping foot, plain, with rough pontil mark and two marks on top of foot diagonally oriented, pronounced ovoid body with almost horizontal shoulder, slender cylindrical neck with tooled trefoil mouth; applied solid ear-shaped handle applied to trefoil mouth which it surmounts, and to shoulder at joint of neck; on the body over-all pattern of loops, arranged in vertical rows (eight) in white and yellow glass, with the pattern extending upwards over part of the neck, tool marks at top of shoulder, thus causing a rib effect, white spiral band at bottom of body (2 1/2 times around body).
