Decolorized glass with a smoky brownish tint. Bubbles and inclusions, toolmarks especially near the rim, and streaks throughout the glass. Tall cylindrical bowl (H. 24 cm), rounded at the base. A thin thread applied horizontally about 9 cm above the base. This lower portion of the bowl adorned with ten applied vertical, pincered ribs. The upper portion shows traces of gilding. A tall and two smaller stylized flowers are still visible. Openworked stem, consisting of a ribbed knop with applied nipple on its base. Attached to the knop are three bands, indented in their middle, looping downwards and reattached on the knop with their sheared and scrolled- in ends. To each loop is attached a rosette-shaped prunt. The loops sit on a solid stem, widened towards the blown foot with its underfolded rim. The scrolled ends of the loops and the prunts show traces of gilding. Rectangular paper label with printed frame and “ON LOAN FROM ... 18,” written in ink “Lord W. d’Eresby May 16th [18]62.” The year is not clearly readable. White round paper label, printed “ETH COLLECTION,” handwritten “485.” Gilt decoration almost entirely worn off. An area on the foot, about two fifths, shows an oily iridescence.
