Primary Description:
Footed Bowl with Millefiori Knop. Colorless, with grayish tinge; opaque white, filigree, millefiori. Blown, mold-blown; applied. Tazza. Shallow circular bowl with fire-polished rim; joined by glue-bit to flat ball knop that is attached directly to pedestal foot with infolded rim and pontil mark. Bowl is decorated with 12 filigree canes radiating from center of bowl in relief on underside, stopping about 2.5 cm short of rim; filigree twists are alternately opaque white (four spiral threads encircling straight central thread) and multicolored (blue, amethyst, amber, and green-edged white spiral threads encircling straight central white thread). Knop consists of picked-up millefiori canes cased with colorless glass and mold-blown with linked raised diamonds, each centered with raised oval; surface is gilded with gold foil. Foot is decorated with 10 filigree canes applied in relief to outer surface, extending down to within 1.3 cm of rim; filigree twist is alternately opaque white (four spiral threads encircling straight central thread) and multicolored (dark blue, green, amber, and turquoise blue–edged white spiral threads encircling straight white central thread). Fragmentary rectangular paper label on underside of foot, printed with “S[AMMLUNG]/FRI[DER RY]SER” and inscribed “G-26-“ in ink.
