Biography: Christopher McElroy

Christopher McElroy

Christopher McElroy earned his BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has exhibited extensively in the United States, and has taught flameworking workshops at The Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass, Red Deer College, Kyoto University of Art and Design, the Penland School of Crafts, and the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. He is an MFA candidate at the University of Washington.

McElroy creates sculptural forms, actions, environments, video, and photographs that negotiate ideas of civilization and wilderness. Informed by lifelong interest in aspects of food production, ranging from water rights and forest management to urban gardening and biotechnology, McElroy’s work probes at problems in human interactions with the natural world (
