Biography: Deborah Truitt

Deborah Truitt

Deborah Truitt received a Rakow Grant to support her compilation of an index of business records (including accounting, suppliers, customers, and catalogs) of American hollow glass importers between 1700 and 1940. In compiling her database, Truitt searched online catalogs, conduct telephone interviews of descendants of the owners of various firms, and visit libraries in New York, Delaware, and Washington, D.C.

An independent researcher from Carmel, Indiana, Truitt holds graduate degrees from the University of Hawaii and the American University in Washington, D.C., and has been an independent researcher and writer on Bohemian glassware since 1990. She and her late husband co-authored and published Collectible Bohemian Glass, a two-volume work covering the years 1880 to 1945. They also compiled a CD-ROM containing an index to the Czechoslovak Glass Review and its successors, Glass Review and New Glass Review.
