After receiving a degree in glass engraving from the Glass School in Kamenický Šenov and the Glass College in Nový Bor, Czech Republic, Jaroslav Šára continued his studies at the Faculty of Art and Design, University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem - Field of Applied Art - Natural Materials, where he gained his Master of Art degree. He devotes himself to classic glass engraving and creating historical replicas. He is interested in applying traditional engraving techniques to contemporary glassware, decorative lighting, architecture, and other areas of applied art, with an emphasis on the aesthetic and optical qualities of glass. His goal is to use this unique craft in a new context, finding a corresponding use for it that is pure and luxurious. A teacher, he is involved in many educational programs in his studio and with professional institutions such as the Academy of Arts and Architecture and Design Prague. He is also a board member of the International Glass Engraving Symposium in Kamenický Šenov and of Kolektiv Ateliers.
