Joel O'Dorisio's work concentrates on traditional blown glasswork and cast sculptural glass. He explores the world through a combination of video and sculpture. He earned his BFA from Ohio State University, and went on to earn an MFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. He opened his own studio and gallery, Lost Angel Glass, in Corning, N.Y., in 1998. O’Dorisio began teaching in 2005 and is currently Director of Arts Village Learning community at Bowling Green State University where he also teaches glass.

His work focuses on the interaction between humanity and the natural environment, specifically using natural textures as a metaphor for nature's chaotic beauty. More recent work includes design based ideas that blend a variety of technical elements and explore the diverse nature of glass as a sculptural material.

His work has been exhibited at the Carnegie Center for Arts and History, the Museum of American Glass in New Jersey, and the Toledo Museum of Art. O'Dorisio's work is also in many private, corporate, and museum collections around the world.
