Biography: Julie Gibb

Julie Gibb

Julie Webster Gibb was born in Toronto, Ontario, and is a graduate of the Crafts and Design program at Sheridan College. She is the recipient of many awards and honors for her work including residencies at The Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, N.Y., and at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre. Her work has been included in several publications, including 500 Glass Objects by Lark Books and 25 Years of New Glass Review by The Corning Museum of Glass. Over the past 15 years, Gibb has primarily focused on combining screen printed imagery with her modern and functional blown glass forms. In 2009, she co-founded the Sandpiper Studio, a small-scale production and design studio specializing in hand-blown glass. Their intent is to carry forward glassmaking traditions and techniques with modern aesthetics and sensibilities in order to produce meaningful and functional objects that resonate in our daily lives.
