Biography: Kim Fields

Kim Fields
Kim Fields

Kim Fields is a well-known contemporary glass artist recognized for her sculptural birds, butterflies and three-dimensional flower beads. Fields has been making glass beads since 1999. The natural world has always informed Fields’ creativity and is the primary influence for her work. She strives for artistic realism, attempting to replicate each subject as faithfully in glass as possible. Fields invests a lot of time studying every aspect of a subject’s form, structures, and colors, long before she sits down at the torch. Every detail matters if a finished piece is going to be coherent. Articles about her works have appeared in numerous books and publications. Fields’ work is in The Corning Museum of Glass, N.Y.; The KOBE Lampwork Museum, Japan; and many private collections throughout the world. Fields has taught and demonstrated at many glass studios throughout the United States and internationally.
