Biography: Phil Rogerson

Phil Rogerson
Phil Rogerson

Phil Rogerson began flameworking in 2008, when he accompanied his wife, Lisa, to a glass beadmaking class at The Studio. An engineer by profession and artist by avocation, Rogerson was drawn to hot glass first as a material, and then by its creative potential. Working primarily in soft glass, he enjoys precision dot work, working with reactive glasses, and working off–mandrel.

Rogerson has studied beadmaking and flameworking with Caitlin Hyde, Kristina Logan, Nancy Tobey, Heather Trimlett, and Tim Drier, among others. Rogerson has served as a teaching assistant and studied furnace work and fusing at The Studio. He joined the glass faculty of Rochester Arc and Flame Center when it opened in 2012 and has been teaching there ever since.
