Saman Kalantari
Saman Kalantari

Saman Kalantari was born in Shiraz, Iran, and started working as a ceramic artist in 1992. He then participated in several exhibitions, and, in 2004, he left his country and has been living and working in Italy. In 2005, he began a two-year study at Vetroricerca Glas & Modern in Bolzano where he discovered glass as a medium. He found that glass was the right material to describe his social experience of life, both in Iran and in Europe. In 2008, he won the Bullseye’s E-Merge “Newcomer Award.” His work has been published in Glasshouse magazine and Neues Glas/New Glass journal. In 2010, he was awarded a fellowship from the Creative Glass Center of America at the Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center.
