Biography: Sharyn O’Mara

Sharyn O’Mara

Sharyn O’Mara is an Associate Professor and Head of the Glass Program at Temple University, Tyler School of Art. Previously, she taught at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and the Kansas City Art Institute. She earned a BA from George Washington University and an MFA from RISD. She is a sculptor whose work is comprised of objects, installations, and drawings.

O'Mara's work has been exhibited in the United States and abroad, including Shattering Glass at the Katonah Museum, and LUX at Cornell University. Her installations using optical fiber and light have been twice been selected for New Glass Review. She has been an artist-in-residence at The Studio at The Corning Museum of Glass in 2004, and Djerassi, Woodside, Calif. Her work is included in numerous private and public collections including The Corning Museum of Glass; Arkansas Arts Center, Little Rock, Ark.; and the Philadelphia Eagles, Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pa.
