Crystal Encapsulation: From the Flame to the Furnace

Students will flamework with soft glass while learning both flora and fauna sculpting techniques. Time will be spent developing dimensional compositions while learning color and sculptural processes. After time spent on the torch, students will take setups to the hot shop where they will be encased out of the furnace, creating large-scale paperweights. This class uses soda-lime (soft) glass. One year of flameworking experience is required. Experience gathering glass out of a furnace is recommended.
