Glass Sculpting

August 3 - 8, 2020
One-Week Session

Students will learn the benefits of creating conceptual work from two approaches: a single session and multiple sessions--where in parts are reheated and assembled later. The class will explore classic and unusual methods of achieving various colors, patterns, and surface techniques, including layering, embossing, cold working, engraving, carving, and sandblasting. The use of sketchbooks (or tablets) for process, critical thinking, and team communication is required. The fundamental goal of this class is to release the restrictive boundaries of conventional glass sculpting, and to foster a new respect, joy, and understanding of this remarkable material! One year of glassworking experience is recommended.
