Cool Fall Evenings with Hot Glass Casting


October 6 - December 8, 2020 7:00pm to 10:00pm
Furnace Casting
Ten-Week Session

This intermediate level course will introduce students to the possibilities of hot glass casting at the furnace. Student will have the opportunity to ladle hot glass into a variety of different mold materials such as sand, metal, and graphite. Techniques such as inclusions of glass and other mixed media materials as well as post pour manipulation will also be part of the lesson plans. Student are encouraged to bring ideas and drawings to class. This class meets on Tuesday evenings for ten weeks beginning October 6, 2020. Some glassblowing experience required.

For the wellbeing of all students and staff, The Studio workshops have been modified, class capacity has been reduced, and sanitizing and social distancing protocols have been introduced. Detailed information about these measures can be found on The Studio Health and Safety page.

Students registered for this class must comply with the New York State COVID-19 Travel Advisory. A health questionnaire and temperature scan will be required before attending class.
