This ten-week online class is a unique opportunity to engage with the curators of The Corning Museum of Glass to explore glass from antiquity to the present day. Curators include Katherine Larson, curator of ancient glass, Christopher Maxwell, curator of early modern glass, Alexandra Ruggiero, curator of modern glass, and Susie Silbert, curator of postwar and contemporary glass. Each curator will offer their personalized insight to the Museum’s extensive collection while also diving into alternative histories and lesser known topics beyond the standard canon of glass history. This course is suitable for glassmakers, art enthusiasts, historians, students, and novices alike.

The class will be delivered via weekly video conferences that incorporate live presentations and class discussions. Classes take place Tuesdays, 12–1:30 pm EST, beginning June 8, 2021. Students registered for this course should have a reliable internet connection during class hours and a computer or tablet that can support video and audio communication. All students will have an online orientation with Studio staff prior to June 8 to ensure connectivity.
