Treg Silkwood: Guest Artist Demonstration

Amphitheater Hot Shop
June 6, 2019 6:00pm to 7:30pm

See Guest Artist Treg Silkwood during a live, narrated demonstration in the Amphitheater Hot Shop on June 6 from 6 to 7:30 pm. Using traditional and nontraditional glassblowing and sculpting techniques, Silkwood demonstrates translating natural forms into glass.

Silkwood and his wife Candice design and create marine-inspired glass sculpture. He uses a flameworking torch in the hot shop in order to attain rich detail that he cannot achieve with glassblowing alone.

This demo is included in the cost of admission (kids and teens 17 and under are free).

The flame from a torch illuminates the face of a man with short hair wearing glasses and sitting at a bench.

Treg Silkwood

By bringing a flameworking torch into the hot shop, Treg Silkwood attains a level of detail that glassblowing alone cannot achieve. A glassmaker with more than 25 years of experience, he finds that combining glassblowing, flameworking, and fusing is rich in creative potential.
