Mounted on board measuring 50 x 37 cm.
Design painting for a cameo glass water jug in layers of white and gray. A handle is decorated to resemble a swan and joins the top of the neck to the vase body.
Attributed to Frederick Carder based on the symbol which appears to the right of the title. This symbol appears on other materials that bear Carder's signature.
Probably a design for Stevens & Williams.
The initials "ESK" have been punch stamped on the lower left of the vase foot.
Paper labels are affixed on board below the painting with printed text "For Art Mr. Certe., group, (1893)"; a school stamp with Carder's name, "Regr. No. 169", and other class information; and "Original design for" and "Glass water jug" with "Owen Jones Prise" written in pen below.
Conserved by Tatyana Petukhova in December 2010; some flood damage and water staining was removed.
