Includes descriptions of cutting and engraving glass and principal Hawkes pattern names, illustrations of various patterns, and decorating techniques of cutting and engraving.
Back and front covers are identical to the earlier edition ca. 1898, but illustrations are mostly different, text varies slightly, and the list of patterns on p. 20-21 is considerably different.

First illustration is that of a candlestick with no candle and pattern list on p. 20 begins with Argyle.
Originally, catalog was dated 1905-1913, but date has been reattributed based on the form of the trademark and the different pattern names. After 1901-1902, the trademark has the word "Hawkes" below the logo.
CMGL c. 1 has pink cover, c. 2 has green.
