This item is a "cabinet card" that was popular during the Victorian era; it was customary to mail these cards to family and friends abroad.
Photograph is of Sophronia Mann Oakes Houghton (1814-1880) in dress with white collar; she was the wife of Corning Glass Works founder Amory Houghton, Sr.
"Hillman, Corning, N. Y." -- embossed along lower edge of board.
"Grandmother Houghton" penciled in along upper edge of board verso.
